Hello, I’m Nat.
I simply love what I do, and enjoy each and every challenge.
I graduated from Winchester School of Art in fashion & Textiles 1999. I have enjoyed creating many wonderful works of art both locally and nationally & internationally ever since.
Each mosaic has a special story behind it whether it is the character of an animal that develops during the mosaicing period or the delicate structure, representation of a flower and its origins, the mythological tale of a fictional beast, traditional design, whilst other pieces take on a feeling such as grace and elegance.
My work is all bespoke to the clients’ brief and their surroundings, an event, a PR showcase for a product / client. It might be evolving a feeling, reflecting nature or championing an idea into a touchable, physical form to a contemporary installation for a public development to wonderful PR tales! I never really know what I might be asked to mosaic and I enjoy the challenge!
When my love for bespoke mosaics became a priority, I moved to be by the sea on the South Coast (8 years ago), after a successful career in fashion and teaching; I have never felt more creative and alive.
As a professional mosaic artist I get my inspiration for my designs and sculptures from everywhere – it might be a hardware store, a ceiling, a simple structure of a leaf, a line from a poem, history or a single mosaic tile and this is reflected in my private, corporate or public art mosaics.
I also enjoy using different tiles (glass, porcelain, iridescent, ceramic) and also non conventional materials including Swarovski crystals, hex nuts etc. For crazy PR ideas I have in the past used jigsaw pieces, I have made my own tiles, used luxury gold leaf, and on rare occasions I have even used diamonds!
I love spending my time mosaicing public, private, community and charity commissions, running commissioned mosaic workshops with community/ corporate groups and with children in schools. (I’m a qualified teacher and accredited life coach).
